Meet the Masters Art Program
Meet the Masters, a program sponsored by Monte Vista PTA is a unique art program featuring famous artists. The program meets two goals of Monte Vista Elementary.
--To provide an educational and creative experience for the students
--Provide a collaborative opportunity for teachers to meet as grade level teams to explore, analyze and put in place math groups to better teach to each student's learning level.
The Meet the Masters experience begins with a multi-media assembly using slides, artist voices, and music where the children learn about the fascinating lives and famous works of the Master Artists. Artists being taught this year are Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso and M.C. Escher.
Following the assembly, students complete a packet of activities designed to reinforce what they have learned in the assembly and prepare them for the upcoming art activity.
Next the students are lead through a step by step journey to create their own masterpiece. Whether using oils, water color, clay or foil, they discover their own creativity and develop confidence in their own unique abilities.
